I am a university professor with a PhD in philosophy from a Jesuit university in the United States. I’m Canadian, a feminist, and fairly liberal, and grew up agnostic (with a period of exploring Neo-Paganism and Wicca), with a vague hostility toward organized religion. Consequently, it was a bit of a surprise when God called me. I was received into the Catholic Church on the Easter Saturday vigil, April 2007. My baptismal and confirmation names are Julian (of Norwich) and Luke — hence my choice of name here.
The purpose of this blog is to explore how best we can be open to the wondrous mystery around us. I hope that it will be interesting for Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
The picture above is from Louis Comfort Tiffany’s “Education.” Note the harmony, in the full picture, of science and religion. I hope this blog will enjoy a similar harmony of faith and reason.
